Evan Mobley Surges Past Draymond Green in DPOY Odds After Warriors' Loss to Spurs

In a major shake-up to the NBA Defensive Player of the Year race, Cleveland Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley has leapfrogged Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green in the latest DPOY odds on Polymarket. Mobley now holds a 57.2% chance to win the award, ahead of Green’s 34.0%.

This rise comes despite Green being named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Month for March — his second consecutive win — just before Wednesday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

But that same game may have sparked the shift in momentum, as the Warriors suffered a 111-114 loss to the Spurs.

The Warriors currently boast the league’s seventh-best defense, largely anchored by Green’s leadership. Just weeks ago, Green was the overwhelming DPOY favorite at -450. His dominance seemed unshakable — especially after climbing from long-shot odds (+5000) following Victor Wembanyama’s early March exit due to blood clots.

However, the latest turn of events has put Mobley in the driver’s seat. The 23-year-old Cavaliers forward has been a consistent force on defense all season.

Meanwhile, Golden State’s playoff hopes remain uncertain. Though they caught a break with the Grizzlies falling to the Timberwolves, the Dubs still need to win their final two games (against the Blazers on Friday and Clippers on Sunday) to lock in the 6th seed and avoid the play-in tournament.

If they succeed, a potential first-round clash with the Lakers looms.
