Freddie Freeman’s Son Charlie to Throw First Pitch on His Dad’s Bobblehead Night at Dodger Stadium
It’s going to be a special night at the Dodger Stadium on Friday — and not just because of the giveaway.
As the Los Angeles Dodgers continue their 2025 bobblehead series, Freddie Freeman’s 2024 World Series Game 1 bobblehead will be handed out to the first 40,000 fans in attendance. But before the reigning World Series MVP takes the field, someone else in the Freeman family will get their moment under the lights: his son, Charlie Freeman, is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
This won’t be Charlie’s first time on the mound. The young Freeman has made a habit of opening big games since 2022, and Friday’s matchup against the Chicago Cubs will be another chapter in that father-son tradition.
The night holds even more meaning as Freeman is expected to return to the Dodgers’ lineup, following a short stint on the injured list. The All-Star first baseman has been sidelined since slipping in the shower at home and aggravating his surgically repaired right ankle.
He had missed a key series against the Braves, but Friday’s return is timed perfectly with his bobblehead night — a celebration of the walk-off grand slam he hit in Game 1 of last year’s World Series, which set the tone for the Dodgers’ title run and earned him MVP honors.
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed the plan, noting that Freeman has embraced rest and recovery this season after gutting through injuries in last year’s postseason.
If Shohei Ohtani’s bobblehead night is any indicator — where he launched a walk-off home run to cap a 5-0 comeback — fans will be hoping Freeman delivers something just as magical on his big night.
