Paige Bueckers Adds Two New WNBA Records During Dallas Wings Win Over Connecticut Sun

Paige Bueckers

It might be the best place to record her first win in the W. Paige Bueckers returned to Connecticut, a familiar surrounding with impressive championship history she was part of. And the star didn’t disappoint her team, fans delivering another impeccable performance to lead her side to their first win of the 2025 WNBA season. But along with that, PB now adds two more records to her name.

Paige finished the game with 21 points, seven assists, five rebounds, two steals and a block. Adding this to her previous four-game performances, Paige has 73 points and 32 assists in the first five games. This makes Bueckers the first player in WNBA history to score at least 60 points and 30 assists through the first five games of a career. Paige’s impact doesn’t end there.

Paige had been efficient throughout the game, scoring 8 baskets in 10 attempts. With such accuracy standards, Paige becomes only the second rookie with 20+ points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists while shooting 80% or better from the field. The previous rookie to do so was the Washington Mystics’ star Temeka Johnson, who did so in 2005.

Paige Bueckers is now Favourite to Win Rookie of the Year Award

Rhyne Howard won it in 2022, Aliyah Boston won it in 2023, and Caitlin Clark won the Rookie of the Year accolade in 2024. The common factor in these winners? They were all first overall picks of their respective draft classes. And now Paige Bueckers might be the next top pick to win the title.

Even though the Wings just won one game in five fixtures so far, Paige had been effective in all five games. The addition of Caitlin Clark took the Indiana Fever from 5-game winning team to a playoff contender in 2024 – Paige will also be looking to deliver similar magic at Dallas in 2025. As for the Rookie of the Year odds, Bueckers is the hot favorite to win the accolade this year. Check out the top five contenders for the title below.
