As the Fifa Club World Cup begins on Saturday, 14th of June 2025, football fans anticipate a tournament that organisers have painstakingly reformed to ensure increased excitement (32 teams involved) and an increase in prize Money. The previous edition of the Club World Cup hosted in Saudi Arabia was contested by 7 teams sharing 16 million euros amongst each other, with the eventual winner, Manchester City, raking up a separate 5 million euros in prize Money for winning the Tournament.

The expanded format of the FIFA Club World Cup announced by FIFA in December 2023 means 63 matches will be played across the tournament, and most importantly, the prize money increases significantly from 5 million euros.

Organisers of the Club World Cup, FIFA revealed the distribution of the tournament will make it the biggest ever prize money for a football tournament as there is a potential prize money of 125 million dollars for the eventual winners of the competition. In contrast, a $ 1 billion prize money is guaranteed for all 32 participating Clubs.

In addition to the prize money for the participating teams, FIFA confirmed an unprecedented solidarity investment programme where a target of an additional $ 250 million will be provided to club football across the world.
