2025 WNBA Draft Results: A New Era Begins with Paige Bueckers Leading the Charge

The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York City was set to host the 2025 WNBA draft. After massive successes in the recent drafts with more young talent making it into the league and elevating its competition and fan following, the 2025 draft was also a major milestone for the league. With 38 players selected, the draft showcased a blend of seasoned college stars and emerging international talents, all eager to make their mark in the professional arena.

Big-name players were available, and fans were immersed in the event to see their favourite players and teams making moves. Paige Bueckers was selected as the No. 1 overall pick while Dominique Malonga was the first international player selected in the 2025 WNBA draft. Dallas Wings took Paige Bueckers and Malonga joined the storied Seattle Storm franchise as the second overall pick.

In total, 33 of the 38 selections came from NCAA Division I programs, including multiple standouts from the national championship game just eight days ago. Also, five remaining standout international players came from four different countries, with two French players being drafted in. The new season will start on May 17, where the stars will be eager to showcase their talent on the big stage.
