Brazilian star striker Vinicius Jr is once again in the news for action outside the football pitch. But this has nothing to do with racism or his ‘interactions’ with opposition fans. This time it’s connected with his future. Yes, Vinicius Jr, playing at Real Madrid, has been planning life after football. The 24-year-old forward has taken ownership stakes in football clubs. And this multiple ownership could hand him a two-year suspension.

The multi-club ownership comes under Article 20 of the FIFA Code of Ethics and Article 22 of the Spanish Federation’s Code of Sports Justice on sporting ethics. The rules aim to protect competition integrity. If found guilty, the penalties include the forced sale of clubs, a mega fine amount and even suspension if an individual is still active on the football field.

The two-year ban is as per the request from the complainant. FIFA is currently reviewing the case, and the final conclusion is expected to be made public in the coming days. Real Madrid has not commented on the matter so far.
