The recently expanded FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is scheduled to begin on June 14 and conclude on July 13, 2025, with 32 teams competing for the title of ‘Best Club in the world’ and a prize pool of up to £ 97 million.
The 2025 Club World Cup will be held in the USA across 12 stadium, with The opening match between Al Ahly and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Saturday, June 14 while the final is at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, July 13.

Club World Cup 2025 Trophy
The Club World Cup Trophy will be lifted for the first time at the MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, The coveted trophy boasts a 24-carat gold-plated finish and laser-engraved inscriptions on both sides, showcasing football’s rich history. These include a world map and the names of all 211 FIFA member associations and the six confederations.
Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, said of the trophy:
“The team who lift this trophy will hold the world of club football in their hands”.
Club World Cup 2025 Format
Man City are the defending Champions, defeating Fluminense 4-0 in Jeddah in the final after 2 rounds of matches. To repeat that same feat, City will play 7 games, more than double the previous tournament.
The new look Club World Cup will feature 32 teams, which is an increase from the usual 7 participants, with 7 matches across 11 days played every year in December
In what appears like the Old format of the FIFA World Cup, the Club World Cup will now be played every 4 years with 32 teams split into 8 groups of 4 teams, with the top 2 qualifying for the Round of 16, the quarter final, semi final and then the Final.

Before the change, only Champions of the various Confederations- winners of the Champions League, winners from South America (CONMEBOL), Asia (AFC), Africa (CAF), North America (CONCACAF) and Oceania (OFC)- could take part, but following the expansion.
Europe has 12 clubs. The Asian Football Confederation, the African Federation, and the North American Federation each get four teams, based on the winners and best-performing teams in their respective Champions League competitions. The South American Federation will get six teams that perform best in the Copa Libertadores.
One slot goes to one team from the Oceania Football Confederation – the best-performing team in the OFC Champions League over the last four years, with the final slot going to an additional team from the host nation. Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami have taken that spot after winning the Supporters Shield in 2024.
