Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade: Coach Doc Rivers Makes His Stance Clear Over Rumors Around Milwaukee Bucks’ Forward

Giannis Antetokounmpo Losing Magical Touch in Playoffs? Surprising Stats Show Greek Superstar’s Poor Record in Post Season

The Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA Championship in 2021, defeating the Phoenix Suns in the finals. Giannis Antetokounmpo helped his side reach the promised land and was named Finals MVP. Then the side was always in the title contenders list, but never cleared the first-round mark. Seemingly frustrated by the team’s performances, the Greek freak was suddenly seen as a top trade target, and when asked about it, the Bucks’ HC Doc Rivers made his stance clear.

“It’s so ridiculous. And I’ve heard all these reports, you hear all this stuff but you don’t like it when you hear it because you know it’s not true,” he answered Bill Simmons’ question over the trade. “But still, your players hear it and everybody else hears it. And I remember telling you the story when I was in Boston: I’m on a treadmill working out. That’s when I could run still on a treadmill. And they announced that the Boston Celtics are about to trade Rajon Rondo, I think to the Lakers. And I was like, ‘What?!’ And it was absurd.”

“Like we had never had any conversations, but Rondo heard it, you know? And so that’s the only thing I don’t like about all this now.” He added, “I don’t know how many more times Giannis has to say he wants to be a Buck and he wants to win a title with the Bucks and it’s so cool to me because it’s not the way it’s done anymore. But with certain guys, I don’t think Steph Curry would ever leave Golden State ever and I’m hoping obviously Giannis feels the same way. That’s the way he’s been so far and it’s been great. It’s been awesome.”

While Stephen Curry is seen as a franchise player and irreplaceable player at the Golden State Warriors, fans must remember recent Luka Doncic’s trade, which is of similar magnitude and rather unexpected that Giannis’ – if it ever happens.

Difficult Situation For Giannis Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis is still in his prime and will look to win as many titles as possible in the coming seasons. With Lillard’s trade falling apart, there is uncertainty around the Bucks’ future plans as the side doesn’t have many encouraging picks in the future, and Giannis Antetokounmpo is their only big chip in the trade market to attract talent and multiple top draft picks.

Giannis’ current contract runs through the end of the 2027 season with a player option for the final year. HE is estimated to earn around $5 million next season and $62 million in his final year. But given his talent and marketability, any franchise will be happy to match the offer if the 30-year-old forward is available on the table.

Like Doc Rivers, Khris Middleton, a former Bucks star, also expressed a wish to see Giannis in Milwaukee. Fans will have to wait for confirmations from Giannis or the Milwaukee Bucks to get a clearer idea.
