Paige Bueckers recibirá un importante reconocimiento en su debut en la WNBA
The WNBA 2025 season will start on May 16. The event will be a massive date for the league as it will welcome its new-era superstar, Paige Bueckers. Drafted as the 1st overall pick in the recent WNBA draft, Dallas Wings’ rookie has been a sensation even before entering the league, and fans are awaiting her debut in the pro league. But there are added flavours to her debut.
As per the report, Paige’s home town – Hopkins has a special plan for their star kid. The Hopkins City Council voted to celebrate “Paige Bueckers Day” on May 16 to honour her debut in the league. But that’s not it, the city also voted unanimously to rename Hopkins to “Paige Bueckers, Minn.,” for the day.
The town is also screening the match for the locals to make it more inclusive for them. Born and brought up in Hopkins, Bueckers played for Hopkins High School. She won the 4a State Championship in 2019 and even led the side to an undefeated season in 2020 till the season was cut short due to COVID restrictions.
The 2024 NCAA Champion is loved by many and is seen as a bright prospect to lead the WNBA’s surging popularity. Along with Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers will be a massive crowd-puller for the WNBA.
High Hopes From Paige Bueckers
Bueckers was deemed a protégé before the age of 10. The star had many career-ending injuries but recovered miraculously and still delivered on the hardwood. From her high school success to her recent NCAA title-winning season, Paige’s development has been an inspiration for many basketball aspirants.
Breaking many records in her illustrious career, Paige won multiple honors like USBWA National Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, All-American honors for three seasons in a row, and Gatorade National Player of the Year, to name a few of the highly coveted accolades.
With such an illustrious career, Paige is also seen as a cornerstone player for the Dallas Wings to win multiple titles. But the first step will be her debut on May 16 against the Minnesota Lynx.
