It’s been over five decades since the New York Knicks last won the NBA Championships. In 2025, New York Knicks fanbase are thrilled with the regular season performance and courtside regular Spike Lee was one of them. Despite falling 1-3 in the best of seven series against the Pacers, the Knicks fans were looking for the ‘historic comeback’.

the NBA on TNT crew was with the famed director, who was dressed to the nines in preparation to watch the mega fixture. Ernie Johnson set the stage for Spike by asking him a realistic question about this series against the Indiana Pacers. “If this is as far as it goes Spike, do you walk away feeling good about your team?” asked Ernie. But the 68-year-old came to the show with his own answers. Instead of answering Ernie’s questions, he revealed what he would give up if he knew the Knicks could win a title.

“I will give up an Academy Award, Oscar, for the Knicks to win a championship. I got two already,” Lee said proudly. But what came next was unexpected for Spike.

“You gonna keep ’em,” said Barkley, which got huge laughs from the crew, especially Pacer legend Reggie Miller. The jab was funny enough that even Spike managed to crack a smile. “I’m sorry,” added Barkley. “I was thinking it.”
