Kyle Kuzma Joins NBA’s “Ghost Club” With 0-0-0-0-0 Performance in Bucks vs Pacers Playoffs Opener

They want to win the title now. Giannis Antetokounmpo is looking to add championships to his career, with or without the Bucks. But the Milwaukee side wants to keep hold of Greek-freak and win titles with him. They added Damian Lillard in 2023, and in 2024, they added another Champion forward, Kyle Kuzma.

An effective piece in the Lakers’ title run, Washington’s second-highest scorer and was defensively sound. All positive signs to the possible addition of a ‘contributor’. But on this playoff debut for the Milwaukee Bucks, Kuzma had little action (or zero). His stats were 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 blocks, 0 steals and 0% shooting from the field (5 attempts) in 22 minutes.

Kuzma faced heat from all directions. But the forward didn’t faze. Understanding his role in the team and how he can help the Bucks for their third title is his aim. Coach Rivers also backed Kuzma after the ‘millionaire’ performance. Kuzma faced the media, a brave act, and answered questions.

“Definitely a stinker, for sure, but it’s a long series of seven games, and I’m excited to play because I understand a little bit of what I need to do to attack the next game.”

Recognising that the game went poorly, Kuzma said he feels he learned something during the opener against the Pacers. He will be more proactive now and will look to impact games like he did with the Wizards.

Interestingly, this is not the first 0-0-0-0 performance in the playoffs by a player with more than 20 minutes of gametime. Mike Dunleavy Jr. (2015), Bruce Bowen (2008), Brent Barry (2005), Michael Cage (1993) and Maurice Lucas (1986) had done it before, making Kuzma only the sixth player with all bagel production.

Will Milwaukee Bucks Bounce Back?

One thing is for sure: Giannis never gives up. Even in the 117-98 thrashing, he was the sole warrior, doing everything he could to turn the tide. After the loss, the 2021 finals MVP will be back with vengeance. Luckily for the Bucks, Damian Lillard will be available for the series and could suit up earlier than expected. Lillard also had first-row experience of the game at Grainfield Arena, he confronted Tyrese Halliburton in the match, and he will be eager to lace up for the contest.

Improving their transition defence, limiting turnovers, and finding ways to generate more offence from other players will also be the key aspects Doc Rivers will look to address. The Indiana Pacers paced the game and put pressure on ball handlers. The addition of Lillard might resolve multiple issues for the Bucks.
