The FIFA Club World Cup concluded with Chelsea beating PSG at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The aftermath of the PSG’s final witnessed members of the PSG squad involved in a brawl with Joao Pedro that could potentially see manager Luis Enrique banned for 3 matches.

Chelsea on the other hand continue to celebrate as they bask in the euphoria of winning the first edition of the newly styled FIFA Club World Cup and a prize money that could potentially amount to $125 million.Earlier in May, FIFA in a meeting with key Stakeholders which included the European Club Association agreed on a €1billion prize distribution model to all 32 participating teams at the tournament.

According to FIFA, this was the biggest prize money distribution in a competition involving a 7-match series with no plans from the World football governing body to retain any revenue generated from the tournament.

Despite the persistent public display of discontent on weather and playing surface by players, the financial gains of participating in the FIFA Club World Cup appear to have taken centre stage as clubs look forward to the next edition in 4 years.
