Premier League: Arsenal's Possible XI For 2025-26 Season

The 2025-26 Premier League season for Arsenal begins with an away trip to Old Trafford as the Gunners face Manchester United in a season they would hope to claim their 14th League title and the first since the 2003-04 season.

The signs look good for the Gunners. Pre-season preparations have started on a good note with a slim 1-0 win over former European giants AC Milan, the team buoyed by the return of several long-term injured players like Kai Havertz.

Manager Mikel Arteta spoke optimistically on the potential arrival at the back end of last season, believing it would be ‘Goosebump’ like. True to the manager’s words, the Club has been swift in the transfer market, with the addition of 6 new players sending the entire fanbase into wild excitement and optimism about what lies ahead for the 2025-26 season.

The addition of striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP for €75m is the pick of the bunch. At the same time, the capture of Martin Zubimendi is viewed by many as a coup given the interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. Both signings are significant to Arsenal who have lacked both goals and leadership in the midfield.

Transfer Strategy

Understanding Arsenal’ transfer strategy will enable most to understand the starting 11 for the upcoming season. The Gunners have spent more than €231m in the transfer window so far with players signed either as backup or straight into the first team.

Goalkeeper

The signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga for €5.80m from Chelsea will provide competition to undisputed number one David Raya but make no mistake about it, he will not displace the Spanish international who conceded just 32 goals in the Premier League keeping 13 clean sheets, the joint most in the League also.

Goalkeeper: David Raya

Defence

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal’s priority in defence was either Dean Huijsen or Marc Guehi but neither wanted to join because they could not be guaranteed a starting berth ahead of William Saliba and Gabriel Margahelhes. 21-year-old Christian Mosquera, though young and raw, was eventually signed for €15m. Displacing the duo of Saliba and Gabriel is next to impossible, as Mosquera’s joining will provide the quality cover that the defence lacked last season with injuries and suspensions. Mosquera’s ability to play either on the left or right of defence is an added plus, with possibilities of playing as a right or left-sided full back.

The Arsenal defence remains the same as last season, though with Jurrien Timber at Right Back, William Saliba and Gabriel in Centre, and Youngster Myles Lewis Skelly at Left back ahead of Zinchenko and Calafiori

Defence: Jurrin Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Margahelhes, Myles Lewis Skelly

Midfield

The exit of Jorginho necessitated the capture of Christian Nørgaard, who joins Arsenal at 31 and, just like Jorginho, understands he will play second fiddle, this time around to Martin Zubimendi, as Jorginho did to Thomas Partey.

New signing, Martìn Zubimendi joined from Real Sociedad for €70m and even though many expected Thomas Partey to act as guidance in the first season, his shock exit from Arsenal as a free agent means new boy Martin Zubimendi heads into his first season in English football as a definite starter in the team’s midfield alongside Odegaard and Declan Rice.

Midfield: Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard

Attack

Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres, according to The Athletic, are viewed as Tier 1 signings, instantly upgrading the attack of Arsenal. While Viktor Gyokeres is expected to instantly take his place as the number 9 ahead of Kai Havertz in the team, confusion lies in the role, if prominent, Noni Madueke will play in the attack. He is expected to deputise but not unseat Bukayo Saka on the right side of the attack and will compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left of the Arsenal attack, a position the Englishman has admitted is not his favourite but one he is learning to embrace.

The probability of Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo joining the North London outfit remains high, as reliable outlets believe Arteta favours one more acquisition to bolster the attack. This certainly will be fascinating for rivals and unpredictable for Arsenal.

The Arsenal attack will have Bukayo Saka at Right Wing, Viktor Gyokeres as the number 9 and Noni Madueke as the attacker on the left.

Attack: Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke

Posible alineación titular del Arsenal:

Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyokeres, Madueke
