Caitlin Clark, Napheesa Collier, Paige Bueckers and Other Headline makers in WNBA 2025 Week 1

Yes, she is once again leading from the front. Not for her team only, but for the entire league. Indiana Fever Guard Caitlin Clark made the headlines for her third triple-double play on the opening night, another game with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds, and also her ‘hard foul’ on Angel Reese. The drama that followed the Clark-Reese Fragrant foul forced the WNBA to open an investigation.

Napheesa Collier also made it to the headlines with her consistency and explosive performances in the first three games played.    She powered her side to a 3-0 recorded with multiple key players out of the rotation. Another star performer for the first week was Aja Wilson. The 2024 MVP started the season on high note, impacting the games at will.

On the rookie’s front, Paige Bueckers made her debut for the Dallas Wings, and even though the team is yet to win any games, Bueckers’ plays were much appreciated by the fans and critics likewise. She also set a record of becoming the only the third player with 40+ points and 20+ assists in the first three games of the league.

League Debutants Who Made Mark in First Week

With new season, new players and for 2025 new team made their debut. Golden State Valkyries was an expansion team and a lot of new faces made their WNBA return or debut through the side. In first three games, the side lost their opening fixture but won two tough matchups.

As for the players, Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron – the Washington Mystics duo was effective on the court and were given chance to showcase their talents. Iriafen joined played like Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark with three straight double-double performances in her debut season. The guard, Citron was equally impactful with her playmaking and scoring.

Second overall pick, Dominiq Malonga, had played a few minutes on the court while players like Hailey Van Lith also saw limited game time. In the Rookie of the Year battle is between Paige Bueckers and Kiki at the moment, with the forward having slight edge over the UConn star with her team’s better record.
