Los Angeles Clippers 2024–25 Season Review: A Rollercoaster Ride of Hope and Heartbreak AGAIN
New season and new hope for Los Angeles Clippers. The franchises had been trying to get out of ‘the Lakers shadow’ over the years. Even though the defeated Jeanie Buss’ franchise multiple times lately, lack of championships still makes them a ‘little rival from the city’. Since take over, Steve Balmer has made multiple changes, creating super teams twice to challenge for the title. But the 2024-25 season was latest heartbreak they had to endure.
With several fans added to the ‘clipper-nation’ new stadium was inaugurated. Intuit Dome – the 38,375 square foot, double-sided Halo Board display, the largest in an arena sitting, along with a “Wall” of 51 uninterrupted rows of seats for intense fan engagement caught many eyes but for hard-core basketball fans – titles matter most. Even though the Intuit Dome will now host the 2026 NBA All-Star Games, the rafters will not have any championship banners.

How Good was the Clippers’ 2024-25 Season?
If the side is looking to evaluate the season on fair-grounds, there were two major positives for them in the 2024-25 season. One is Nor Norman Powell’s offensive surge and other is James Harden’s playmaking skill on display.

With limited time for Kawhi Leonard due to a knee injury and Paul George’s departure, Norman Powell got more game time, and he capitalised on it by draining shots from the range. The veteran swingman embraced the challenge, becoming a reliable scoring option. James Harden had been a star playmaker for his sides in the past, and now, once again, ‘the beard’ was seen in full throttle mode – at 35. His game helped many young stars to thrive at the offensive end.
How Bad was the Clippers’ 2024-25 Season?
In many ways, inability to win title and retain top level talent., Blake Griffin gave it a try, Chris Paul gave it a try and now Paul George give it a try and left. Derrick Jones Jr. and Mo Bamba failed to make an impact while the piece traded SGA is now in the MVP race. Injuries also once again casted dark clouds on the franchise.
Kawhi Leonard’s ongoing knee issues were a significant setback, while his return did spark few wins but the consistency was missing since return from injury. And then again, a playoff collapse. The Clippers entered the 2025 NBA Playoffs with high hopes, facing the Denver Nuggets in the first round. After taking a 3-1 series lead, they suffered a historic collapse, losing three straight games, including a decisive Game 7.

As for the fitness issue, Kawhi Leonard’s health remains a wildcard. If he can return to form, the Clippers might have a foundation to build upon. However, relying on Leonard’s availability will continue to be a gamble.
