Warriors Silence Houston Rockets in Game 7, Set Up Showdown with Minnesota Timberwolves
In a high-pressure Game 7 on the road, the Golden State Warriors relied on their veteran core to deliver a 103–89 win over the Houston Rockets, silencing the crowd at Toyota Center and advancing to the next round of the NBA Playoffs.
Despite facing a younger, faster Rockets team led by rising star Jabari Smith Jr. and dynamic big man Alperen Sengun, the Warriors leaned on playoff-tested poise, physicality, and defense to get the job done. It marked another signature win for a Golden State team that refuses to go quietly, even as the league gets younger and faster around them.
Buddy Hield Catches Fire, Curry Leads the Way
The surprise star of the night was Buddy Hield, who exploded for 33 points on 9 made three-pointers, tying a Game 7 record for most threes in a playoff game. Hield provided the scoring punch that the Warriors needed to stay ahead every time Houston made a run.
But the heart and soul of the win came from Stephen Curry, who delivered a complete all-around performance. Though he struggled early, scoring just 3 points in the first half, Curry came alive late and finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, shooting 50% from the field over 45 minutes.

His third-quarter defensive effort, particularly a switch onto 21-year-old Jabari Smith Jr., was a tone-setter.
Warriors Defense Clamps Down
The real difference-maker in Game 7 for the Warriors was the defense.
The Warriors held the Rockets to 40.5% shooting from the field and 33.3% from three, numbers that were padded slightly in garbage time. Draymond Green did a phenomenal job on Alperen Şengün, who was forced into 9-of-23 shooting in one of his toughest games of the season.
Golden State’s zone defense kept the Rockets uncomfortable all night, and Houston struggled to create clean looks. The Warriors were aggressive, disciplined, and physical, exactly what you need in a road elimination game.
The Warriors will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the next round, with Game 1 scheduled for Tuesday in Minneapolis.
