Rory McIlroy Joins Elite Club with Career Grand Slam at the Masters 2025

Rory McIlroy finally did it!

With his emotional win at the 2025 Masters, the Northern Irishman became just the sixth man in golf history to complete the Career Grand Slam—winning all four major championships: the Masters, U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and PGA Championship.

The exclusive club he now joins begins with Gene Sarazen, who first achieved the feat in 1935 after winning the inaugural Masters. Next came Ben Hogan, who completed his Grand Slam in 1953 by winning The Open in his only appearance there—an incredible one-and-done legacy.

Gary Player followed in 1965, becoming the first non-American to do it after securing the U.S. Open. Known for his global influence on the game, Player won all four majors across different continents and decades.

The legendary Jack Nicklaus, who completed his slam in 1966 with a win at The Open, took it to another level by winning each major multiple times, collecting an unmatched total of 18 majors. Then came Tiger Woods, who completed his slam in 2000 with The Open and even held all four major titles simultaneously from 2000 to 2001—an extraordinary run known as the “Tiger Slam.”

Now, nearly a decade after his last major, Rory McIlroy has finally added the elusive Masters to his resume. He had already claimed the U.S. Open in 2011, the PGA Championship twice (2012, 2014), and The Open in 2014. But Augusta had always been the missing piece. After years of near-misses and pressure, Rory’s victory completes the puzzle and solidifies his status among golf’s all-time greats.
