Arsenal Transfer News: Mikel Arteta’s Side Beats Liverpool and Man City Signing Star Midfielder, Set to Trigger £ 51 Million Release Clause as Gunners Begin Rebuild
After the loss to PSG in the Champions League, Arsenal wasted no time preparing for the new season. With three games left in the season, Arsenal has already lost the Premier League title, but has nearly secured a place in next season’s UCL competition. Arsenal wanted to sign Zubimendi in the 2024-25 winter transfer window, but the La Liga side insisted on keeping the player till the end of the season. With no Champions League football guaranteed next season, Martin Zubimendi decided to join Arsenal. The final steps required to bring him to the Emirates are seen as formalities, with Arsenal ready to trigger the Spaniard’s £ 51 million release clause.
It is interesting to highlight that top clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City were interested in Martin Zubimendi, but with Jorginho and Thomas Partey’s confirmed departure at the end of the 2024-25 season, Arsenal prioritized Zubimendi as their prime target and got the deal done.
Zubimendi will be the first signing made by new sporting director Andrea Berta, who is looking to provide a strong side to challenge on all fronts.
