How Much Do Teams Earn For Winning The Europa League
Manchester United and Tottenham both secured their qualification to the Europa League final with convincing wins over Athletic Bilbao and Bodo Glimt to ensure an all-English final. Languishing in 14 and 15th place in the Premier League, the Europa League presents a back door for both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to qualify for the more illustrious Uefa Champions league and with it, the much needed financial windfall to help ease the pressure of Profit and sustainability Rules (PSR) giving clubs the oppourtunity to also add high Elite talents to their club.
Just how much have they earned with the journey to the final.
Total Prize Money for Europa League
The gross revenue Threshold for the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and the Conference League is 4.4 billion euros. 397 million euros has also been set aside for organisational costs, 132 million euros set aside for qualifying round costs, and 132 million euros will be set aside for non-participating clubs, with a further 22 million euros set aside for the UEFA Women’s Champions League scheme.
For the 2024-25 Season, the total prize money pool for Europa League participants is 565 million euros, which is meagre compared to the Champions League’s 2.473 billion euros. For a clearer purpose, the pool is divided into three categories: Equal shares, Performance-based rewards, and the newly introduced value pillar.
The equal Shares pool ensures a pre-determined amount for all teams that qualified for the Europa League league phase, irrespective of performance. This amounts to 18.6 million euros per team. The performance is based on how far a team goes in the Europa League, courtesy of the number of wins in the league phase and the knockout stage wins.
27.5 per cent will be allocated to equal Shares (155 million euros)
37.5 per cent will be allocated for performance-related shares( 212 million euros)
35 per cent will be allocated to the newly created value pillar (198 million euros)
Equal Share
Each of the 36 clubs that qualify for the league phase can expect to receive a league
phase allocation of € 4.31 million, split into a down-payment of €4.14 million and a balance of 170 thousand euros.
Performance-Based Rewards
Each win in the league phase hands a club 450 thousand euros, and each draw would see a reward of 150 thousand euros handed out. Clubs ranked 1 to 8 in the league ranking will receive an additional 600 thousand euros, and clubs ranked 9 to 16 will receive an additional 300 thousand euros. Automatically qualifying for the knockout playoff round means 300 thousand euros
Prize money then took a big jump for the round of 16, seeing those eliminated in that stage claim 1.47 million pounds. Teams that lost in the quarter-finals also took home 2.11 million pounds. Another progress past the semi-final stage has seen both Manchester United and Tottenham rake in 3.54 million pounds each.
Now, in the final, the winner will take home 10.95 million pounds, with the loser settling for 5.90 million pounds. The prize for winning the Europa League is half the price of winning the Champions League. Champions League winners claim 21.1 million pounds

According to UEFA, 198 million euros is up for grabs as the allocation is split into European and non-European. The amount available for the European part of the value pillar is divided

to every rank, with the highest-ranked team receiving 36 shares.

How Much Can Teams Earn En Route to the Final
Tottenham have secured 15.499 million euros en route to the final, with its 5 wins at the league phase and another 5 wins in the knockout phase bringing its total to 10 wins.
It could increase to 26.5 million euros with another win in the final over Manchester United.
Man Utd, on the other hand, Manchester United earned 2.25 million euros for the wins at the group stage, 450 thousand euros for the League phase draws. Another 600 thousand euros for finishing in the top 8 position.
Manchester United have secured at least 13 million euros, and winning the Europa League would guarantee a substantial increment.
Implications of the Europa League win for either side
The co-owner of Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has sole focus on Champions League qualification, according to the BBC, who also believe that, given the recent changes witnessed in this season’s Champions League, winning this season’s Europa League could be worth as much as 100 million pounds to a club in dire need of money.
Manchester United average matchday revenue of 5.2 million pounds per match is likely to increase following the 5 percent increment billed to commence next season, promise of champions league football will further help soften the blow on the fans and increase the revenue of the club giving it the power to pursue top players in its quest to continue the rebuild at Old Trafford.
