Mohamed Salah On the Verge of Breaking Premier League Record as Liverpool Takes on Arsenal on Super Sunday

Most Goals and Assists in a Premier League Season

Liverpool FC has already won the Premier League title with three games to spare. The side will take on second-placed Arsenal next on Sunday, headlining the Super Sunday fixtures in match week 36. The game will affect Arsenal’s chances in qualifying for the UCL next season. But there is something for Liverpool also, as their star striker, Mohamed Salah, is just one goal or assist away from making EPL history.

In April this year, Salah’s opening goal against West Ham ensured he broke the record for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season with 45, consisting of 27 goals and 18 assists. With the Arsenal tie at hand, Salah is presented with the opportunity to equal and possibly surpass some great Premier League players.

A goal for Mohamed Salah would see him equal Roberto Firmino’s club record of 11 league goals versus the Gunners. Another record is on the Horizon, and this is arguably the bigger prize in cementing the Premier League legacy of the Liverpool attacker.

Salah Records At Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is currently Third on the all-time highest goal scorer list for Liverpool with 244 goals, putting him behind Roger Hunt, 277 goals and Ian Rush, 339 goals. Mohammed Salah has the next 2 years to navigate some great names on the list of the all-time Premier League goal contribution as he sits 4th on the list with his 272 goal contribution( 185 goals, 87 assists).

Frank Lampard sits in third with a 279 goal contribution in his time at Chelsea and Manchester City (177 goals, 102 assists) while Manchester United Legend, Wayne Rooney, remains in 2nd with a 311 total goal contribution. Alan Shearer remains Unchallenged with 324 goal contributions, recording a whopping 260 goals and 64 assists.

Salah holds the record for the most Premier League goals by an African player, with 185 goals. He also leads in the most left-footed goals scored in the league’s history, tallying 150 goals. He also became the fastest player to score 50 goals for Liverpool, achieving this milestone in just 65 games.

Having signed the new 2 year contract weeks ago, he is set to also cement his legendary status at Liverpool before he bids farewell.
