Top 10 Premier League Signings of 2024-25 Season: Ranking Impactful New Additions to EPL Teams

Omar Marmoush at Manchester City

In its quest to achieve diverse goals and ambitions for the season, Premier League clubs spent approximately 2.7 billion dollars across the Summer and winter transfer windows for the 2024-25 season. The Premier League ‘Big Six’ alone accounted for over 1.6 billion euros spent on transfers as the trio of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea spent at least 200 million euros in both windows combined.

Liverpool spent the least of all the teams in the traditional top 6 (42 million euros) coasting to the record-equalling 20th Premier League title, while heavy Spenders like Chelsea and Manchester City are still in limbo regarding Champions League qualification for next season. Manchester United are living proof of the saying “it is not how much, but how well you spend the money” as they languish 16th on the Premier League table, even if their Europa League unbeaten run has them on the edge of Champions League qualification.

Some of the players signed this season for big money, especially by Big clubs, have failed to live up to fans’ expectations, while some deals that have gone under the radar have turned out to be exceptionally smart transfers.

Top 10 signings of the 2024-25 Premier League Season

10. Ilman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye (Everton)

Another Senegalese attacker who moved to the Premier League in the summer of 2024, joining an Everton side low on quality. Ndiaye to date has contributed 9 goals in the Premier League and 11 in total. Given the severe lack of creativity and the managerial instability, it is nothing short of a miracle that the former Marseille man has been able to rack up the numbers.

This season, he averaged a progressive carrying distance of 14.5 metres in the Premier League. No player who carries at his frequency averages more. There have already been standout moments: the solo effort against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup that won the ‘goal of the round’ award

Earlier this season, Paul Robinson said he was the only Everton player who could easily play for Manchester City, with others describing him as a difference-maker in the final third, driving forward with skill and purpose, adding a newfound dynamism to a previously one-dimensional attack.

His 2 goals to bid farewell to Goodison Park illustrate just how he has endeared himself to the hearts of the Everton fans, that has also got them looking over their shoulders for potential suitors at the end of this season.

9. Ismaila Sarr (Crystal Palace)

His 13-goal contribution to Crystal Palace will ensure they finish around midtable in the Premier League, but his 4-goal contribution in 5 games ensured that Palace, for the first time in 120 years, won a major trophy in English football. The Senegalese international returned to the Premier League after relegation with Watford and a one-year Hiatus in France with Marseille.

Signed for a meagre 12.5 million pounds as a replacement for the departed Michael Olise, who joined Bayern Munich, Sarr took time to hit the ground running as his first Premier League goal did not arrive until November in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa. Sarr also agreed afterwards that he needed to score more to help the team, and help the team he did as his brace in the FA Cup semi-final against Villa will live long in the memories of the Palace fans.

8. Omar Marmoush (Man City)

The Egyptian King joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee reported to be in the region of 72.6 million dollars in January, as Pep Guardiola attempted to rescue what was left of a dying season.

Prior to joining Manchester City in January, Omar Marmoush had scored 20 goals alongside 14 assists in 26 matches. He described it as a ‘Dream come true’ after completing his move and had a dream start with a 14-minute hat-trick against Newcastle in the 4-0 win in February.

He has gone on to register 6 goals in just over a thousand minutes of football with 2 assists to his name, deputising for the injured Haaland this season and keeping the hopes of Champions League football alive for the Cityzens this season.

7. Liam Delap (Ipswich Town)

The England under-21 international joined the newly promoted Ipswich Town in July 2024 after only 2 senior appearances for City in a reported 20 million pounds deal. The Son of former Stoke City player Rory Delap played on loan at Hull City the previous season and scored 8 goals, which was enough to attract both Southampton and Ipswich vying for his signature, with Ipswich eventually coming top.

His debut senior season in the Premier League has seen him score 12 goals and create 2 assists in 36 matches, which is enough as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham are hot on the heels of a striker who will only get better. With a reported 40 million pounds release clause inserted in his contract, it is only a matter of ‘when, not if’ it is triggered

6. Mikel Merino (Arsenal)

Mikel Merino’s transfer from Real Sociedad to Arsenal took almost 2 months before completion as the Arsenal fans waited in anticipation of the Spanish international’s arrival. He was a master at hunting the ball from the opposition and tackles, as the stats show he attempted 99 tackles with a tackle success rate of 67 per cent.

He was not the skilful attacking midfielder the Arsenal fans clamoured for, but he was the man Manager Mikel Arteta wanted to plug the gap in the left 8 position. His introduction to the Arsenal fans was hampered by the Shoulder injury in training, meaning fans had to wait until October for his Debut against PSG, and even after that, we’re not convinced.

Merino was finally accepted by the fans, orchestrated by some divine means due to injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, which meant he had to deputise as a striker. His numbers went up, scoring 7 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League. He will be remembered for his Swashbuckling display and goals against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

5. Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest)

Elliot Anderson’s departure from St James’ Park raised a few eyebrows, but due to Newcastle needing to comply with the limits of the Profit and Sustainability rules in a move that also saw Forest goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos move to Newcastle on a permanent deal. Anderson’s 35 million pounds move from his boyhood club has not affected his performances as Forest have competed at the top of the Premier League table rather than fighting for their lives in a relegation battle.

He has been involved in 8 goals this season, but more importantly, has been ever involved in the European push for Forest. He is a hard worker in midfield, winning 50 of his aerial duels and 224 of his ground duels and making 85 tackles. This tenacity has made the fans of Nottingham Forest fall in love with him.

4. Evanilson (Bournemouth)

Bournemouth decided against signing Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah as they opted to pay FC Porto a reported club record fee of 45 million euros to tie the Brazilian down to a long-term deal. Having scored 25 goals across all competitions in the Previous season, fans expected much from a player replacing Dominic Solanke and one described by Chief Executive Neil Blake as having ‘immense pedigree’ to hit the ground running, but it did not happen immediately.

His first goal of the season came in Bournemouth’s first home win of the season in the Cherries’ 3-1 home win over Southampton. His direct pace, press and hunger would be a problem for Premier League defences as his 10 goals and 5 assists have pushed Bournemouth into European contention with a midtable placement

3 Nikola Milenkovic (Nottingham Forest)

The Serbian defender, described as the Serbinator, is known for his robust, No-nonsense style of defending, forming a partnership with Murillo that has birthed an almost impregnable defence for Nottingham Forest.

Joining under the radar from the Italian side Fiorentina for 12 million pounds, he has ensured Nottingham Forest’s sustained push for Champions League football this season with his 5 important goals. His defensive stats are incredible as he has 91 aerial duels this season, won 140 ground duels and made 187 clearances.

2. David Raya (Arsenal)

Initially joining Arsenal on loan last season from Brentford, he joined the Gunners permanently in the 2024-25 season after displacing former number one Aaron Ramsdale and has carried on with his impressive performances.

David Raya has kept 13 clean sheets in the Premier League this season and 22 overall with a 73 per cent save rate. He has faced 113 shots and saved 80, putting him in line for another Golden Glove award as he is level on clean sheets (13) as Forest’s goalkeeper, Matz Sels.

1 Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth)

At the start of the summer transfer window in 2024, Juventus pushed for the exit of Dean Huijsen and, according to the Spanish international, made him train along, which made him feel bad, especially after he had been there for the past 3 Seasons.

Huijsen was eventually sold to Bournemouth for 12 million pounds and instantly became a regular at the Cherries with stellar performances backed with a trademark calm goal celebration. His manager with the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, described him as a player who is unfazed by situations with the capability to play for any team in the world:

“I see him – if nothing gets in the way – as capable of playing for any team, I don’t see any limits”

His 3 goals in 34 appearances for Bournemouth this season prompted a 7-horse race for his signature, with Real Madrid eventually winning the race for his signature after agreeing to pay his 50 million pounds release clause over 3 instalments, with most arguing he is certainly worth more than the figure.

He will play for Madrid at the Club World Cup, and the rest of the world anticipates what is to come for this young 20-year-old defender
