Why Arsenal Could Win 2025-26 Premier League

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have done everything within their might in the last 3 seasons to win the Premier League title yet it remains elusive to the Gunners.

Several factors have contributed to the North London outfit’s consecutive second-place finishes since its first second-place finish in the 2022-23 season.

Naivety and a lack of experience were blamed for the Gunners’ first title miss. The 2023-2024 season was extraordinary, as Guardiola’s City peaked, winning the treble. The 2024-25 season was difficult, as the Gunners were dealt a harsh blow. Injuries ravaged a team many believed would win the title in the absence of City, only for surprise package Liverpool to come out victorious.

Mikel Arteta, while addressing the fans at the end of last season, talked of ‘lessons learnt’ and a need for the fans to ‘believe’.

The 2025-26 season feels like the defining season, when there are no more excuses, and Arteta’s project must yield the desired result of trophies, keeping the Premier League and Champions League in mind.

Hunger

Mikel Arteta spoke of the hunger from his players to win trophies when describing the mentality of a team severely damaged by consistent and long-term injuries last season.

After joining Arsenal in 2023, Declan Rice spoke of his hunger and determination to win all trophies available, and he reached those goals this year.

It is the belief within the ranks at Arsenal that missing out on the League title thrice in a row has created this huge hunger in the players to finally banish the demons.

The hunger to finally claim this elusive league title in some quarters has also led to an obsession. The players talk about it, the coaching staff discuss it and this should make rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and even Chelsea wary.

Players like Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, Gabriel Margahelhes, and Bukayo Saka have become leaders and the team’s foundation. Experiencing every heartbreak of missing the league title is felt by this group even more whose extra motivation will pull the entire squad in this direction.

Ruthless In Transfer Window

The Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, who is shortly going on break said he felt ‘goosebumps’ ahead of this summer transfer window.

In the past, Arsenal fans voiced their disapproval with the board over a lack of attacking additions to a squad clearly in need of them.

Arteta’s words were refreshing, and the actions afterwards have proven the manager to be right. The Gunners have been swift in adding depth to the squad with the addition of Christian Mosquera from Valencia, Christian Nørgaar,d and Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.

Apart from depth, the Gunners added former Real Sociedad midfielder, Martin Zubimendi beating the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to his signature.

Noni Madueke has joined from Chelsea in a £52m deal. The England International’s transfer, though shocking to many, makes a lot of sense as he not only provides cover for Bukayo Saka on the right side of attack, but he also provides competition on the left Side of attack alongside Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Madueke’s threat from direct runs and dribbling is what the Gunners have missed for so long. Arteta will be unleashing this unpredictable, devastating attacking on the rest of the Premier League.

Speaking ahead of its Singapore tour, Mikel Arteta confirms the club is not done with the transfer market as he feels the need to improve the strength of the team number-wise. Arsenal are certain to sign one of Eberechi Eze, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, or Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, irrespective of the exit of their current attackers.

Signing a Recognised Number 9.. Finally!

The Gunners have just bolstered their attack following the £65m capture of Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres. Gyokeres is arguably the best number 9 in world football at the moment, scoring 54 in 52 matches last season. Arsenal will finally add a recognized, proven number 9.

In the 2023-24 season, Arsenal scored 91 goals in the Premier League, The team suffered immensely with Injuries to key attackers like Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz as Youngster Ethan Nwaneri and midfielder Mikel Merino were left to shoulder the goalscoring responsibilities, hence the team’s paltry 69 goals last season.

Gyokeres scored 39 goals in 33 matches alone in the league last Season, which is more than half the goals the Gunners scored in the Premier League. His introduction will not only add goals to the team but also send shivers down the spines of opposing defenders.

Nuno Espirito Santo last season confessed to utilising a more brave approach when he faced Arsenal last season because of a lack of a Number 9 to occupy his team, interesting to hear his thoughts when Nottingham Forest face Arsenal at the Emirates in September.

Winning the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool will be a difficult ask from Mikel Arteta’s men when you consider the mercurial additions to the Liverpool squad, Alexander Isak joining an attack with Salah and Hugo Ekitike will only take Liverpool to higher grounds, but if anybody is best positioned to snatch the League title, then it’s the Gunners
