Angel Reese Clap-Backs at Trollers With Brilliant ‘Mebound’ Move

Angel Reese at Chicago Sky

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is now used to the trolls even after consistently delivering on the court. She was one of the most targeted players ever since her ‘infamous’ ring celebration in front of Caitlin Clark. It not only sparked the ‘Reese-Clark’ rivalry but also divided women’s basketball fan bases into two. Recently, Reese was trolled with a new term – ‘mebound’, a term used to collect own missed shots. This not only diminishes her ability to grab rebounds but also makes fun of her ‘stat’.

Ironically, Reese was the league leader in rebounds in 2024, and in the first month of the 2025 season, she is once again leading the stat. The chatter has only grown louder as the Sky (3-7) have struggled to start this season, becoming prominent enough for a term for these rebounds to emerge: “Mebounds.”

There were also t-shirts and other wearables with ‘Mebound’ written on them for sale. Capitalizing on the popularity of the term, Angel Reese decided to trademark the same. This was a brilliant move; rather than getting angry at the troll, she used the ‘buzz-word’ to make some extra money. She didn’t forget to thank the creator of the ‘brilliant word-play’.

Whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing, y’all ate that up because ‘mebounds,’ rebounds, ‘crebounds’ … anything that comes off that board, it’s mine. And a brand? That’s six figures right there.”

Angel Reese and Chicago Sky Looking to Better Record in WNBA 2025

On the court, though, Chi-town Barbie and her Chicago Sky franchise are struggling. The side stands 11th in the league with a 3-8 record. Two of those wins came against teams ranked below them and the only encouraging sign was the team’s improved output.

Reese is averaging a double-double in the league with 10+ points and nearly 12 rebounds. She even recorded her first triple-double in the team’s recent win. With that, she became the second youngest star to record a triple-double behind Caitlin Clark.

But concerning fact for the Chicago Sky is the absence of Courtney Vandersloot, who will be out for a season with injury. The team is looking at Haley Van Lith to step up until they find an experienced guard. The side is already out of the Commissioner’s Cup competition and now will focus on bettering its regular season record.
