Fever vs Sun: Caitlin Clark, Stephanie White React to Physical Commissioner’s Cup Game in WNBA 2025

Caitlin Clark Getting Hit During Fever vs Sun Game

Fever vs Sun, the last game for a place in the 2025 Commissioner’s Cup Final was wild. In the first half, the Indiana Fever team, favorite in the game against the Connecticut Sun, was leading by 8 points. The side looked certain to win the game. but from midway into the third quarter, the game got more physical with reaching its peak with Jacy Sheldon poking Caitlin Clark in the eye.

Clark shoved off Sheldon, who was still close to the Fever guard even when she stopped dribbling. Marina Mabrey took the things in her hand and put Caitlin Clark on the floor. With the Crowd getting restless, officials got involved and separated players from both teams who were still going after each other. Interestingly, Sheldon has never won a game against Clark from her college days and was also responsible for an injury to Sydney Colson in the previous meeting.

Interestingly, no fragrant foul was called; rather, three technical fouls were declared on Sheldon, Marbrey and Clark. Reacting to the question on the event in the postgame interview, coach Stephanie White mentioned that it was obvious that the game was going to be physical, and she was constantly trying to show the same to the referees on the floor.

“I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing, right? When the officials don’t get control of the ball game, when they allow that stuff to happen – and it’s been happening all season long, all season long, it’s not just this game, it’s been happening all season long – this is what happens, right? This is what happens. You’ve got competitive women who are the best in the world at what they do, right? And when you allow them to play physical, and you allow these things to happen, they’re gonna compete, and they’re gonna have their teammates’ backs.”

Caitlin Clark kept it simple and mentioned that let my game do the talking, and also added that the Fever team will play in the Commissioner’s Cup Final. She also shared the ‘finals’ news on her social media, which quickly went viral. The Indiana Fever vs Minnesota Lynx 2025 Commissioner’s Cup final will be played on July 1 at the Target Center.

Sophie Cunningham Stepped Up for Caitlin Clark with Hard Foul on Jacy Sheldon

The things didn’t slow down after the huge shuffle in the third quarter. Players were still physical, with Sheldon being more aggressive on the court. In the final minute of the game, Sophie Cunningham took charge and put down Jacy Sheldon, bear-hugging the Sun’s Guard as she was going for the layup.

Once again, it was a massive ’fight’ on the sidelines with Sheldon trying to respond to Cunningham’s act and Sophie also ready for the reaction. Fans in the arena chanted Sophie’s name as the players were approaching the bench. Still, there were no strict actions taken by the officials. The officiating in the WNBA is constantly blamed for the extent of physicality in the league.
