Kelsey Plum Gives Hilarious Responce On Caitlin Clark’s Shooting Slump

Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Plum

Caitlin Clark can’t be kept away from the headlines. When she scores, it makes noise, breaks records and wins games. She’s known for her logo threes and shot 34.4% from behind the arc during her rookie season. But it gets even louder when she misses. Yes, in recent games, the star guard missed more shots than she made. Over her last three games, Clark has gone just 1-of-23 from three.

It was highlighted by a few fans and critics. It was a major news story with a fan coming to support her and highlighted that it’s not only CC who is struggling on the court. Before the Friday night games, New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu was 3-of-19 over her last three games, Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey was 2-of-17 in her last three, Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers was 2-of-17 in her last five, and even Los Angeles Sparks guard Kelsey Plum was 4-of-22 in her last four games. The names included are also elite shooters and their struggles were never discussed as per the post.

Plum came across an Instagram post by @trysta_krick, who pointed out these struggles. Plum headed to the comments to share her reasoning for it. “Cause we’re tired 😂,” she said. It was a light-hearted reply showing support to Caitlin Clark and even other scorers, including Plum.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first occasion when WNBA players have spoken out about being tired of the extensive schedule. Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally was also vocal about it. “Cathy [Engelbert] added a lot of games,” Sabally said. “And us as players, recovery is so important. We put our bodies on the line every single time. We had nine games in 18 days. It’s not really responsible for a commissioner.”

Earlier in June 2025, Liberty star Natasha Cloud called on WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert to extend the season. “Girl, Cathy [Engelbert] needs to extend the season…if you want the best product on the floor, we need proper time to rest and recover,” Cloud said. Whether it is a tiring schedule or a small bump in their shooting flow, fans would love to watch their favorite stars shine and go big in games.

Caitlin Clark Struggling with Injury also

While workload or travels, or any other reason, are slowing the players on the court, Caitlin Clark, in particular, is still struggling with an injury. After missing a series of games early in June, the Iowa star once again sat out of the Fever’s recent two games due to her left groin injury. Clark did not play in the Fever’s 94-86 win over the Dallas Wings and rookie Paige Bueckers on Friday night.

While the team will be looking to play and win its first WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Final, Clark’s fitness and shooting form are vital for the side. Interestingly, Clark’s return from the injury was a welcome sign for the Indiana Fever, who handed the New York Liberty its first loss to book a place in the final.
